There are a lot of proprietary tools in the market, which allow developing and documenting of diagnostic sequences. The main withdraw of these tools is incompatibility, i.e. it is either impossible or rather difficult to exchange the developed documents. The Open Test Sequence Exchange (OTX) Format, a new standard developed by ISO, might be a solid solution in this field. The samtec OTX Interpreter versions 0.9.1, 0.9.2 and 0.9.3 have been already tested in the production, and there are several visual editors available. A new version 0.9.5 comes in the near future (third quarter 2011).

samtec OTX Interpreter is a new tool family which covers main topics of working with OTX:

• the versions 0.9.1/0.9.2 and 0.9.3 are supported, the support of 0.9.5 will be added after the ISO voting (samtec is a member of OTX ISO working group)
• standard extension libraries like Math, StringUtil, Environment and Event can be shipped immediately
• we have flexible extension API (reference implementations of HMI and DiagCom are available)
• not to forget is a powerful serialization mechanisms which allow not only to use XML serialization, but also highly customizable binary formats.

To assure the quality we have developed samtec OTX Selftesting Framework, which allows testing of, in principle, any OTX interpreter for compliance to the standard, bugs and performance.
