Solutions for K- and L-Line
The K-Line is a bidirectional single wire bus used for data transfer in the automotive engineering and is standardized as ISO 9141 and ISO 14230-1. In combination with the L-Line for vehicle diagnostics, the K-Line runs also unidirectional.
In accordance with the norms, the L-Line is only designed to stimulate the control unit and remains after that on high-level. In practice, such initialization is unusual and is processed for most vehicles by the K-Line.
The K- and L-Line are especially used for external communication (e.g. on-board-diagnostic of control units). The transmission is only running in one of both directions and after completion of the data telegram also in the opposite direction.
